Hi folks , a quick update to let you know that Rome Romeo's Lucifemme 7" is now available on Itunes and in our webstore. Also here is a video they shot for the song "Secrets". It was shot in Super 8 by the band. Thanks to Jean-Michel Gaudreault for the help.
Rome Romeo have finished recording a 7" following 2009's critically acclaimed self-titled EP. The new 7", titled Lucifemme, officially drops February 14, 2012. The four-piece recorded at Breakglass studios with Jace Lasek (Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, Suuns, Land of Talk) and mixing was done by Adrian Popovich at Mountain City Studio (Sebastien Grainger of Death from Above 1979, Priestess, Sam Roberts, Duchess Says).
These two new songs pack a driving, powerful punch with swirling and haunting vocals. "Secrets" and "Tongue & Teeth" are both dynamic and alluring, ebbing and flowing with anticipation, female-led passion and sincerity.
The band is set to have a release show for Lucifemme February 11, 2012 at Divan Orange in Montreal. They will announce the first leg of tour dates soon, which include plans to tour the eastern United States in April 2012 in support of the 7" and a yet-to-be-named full length, out in April as well.

MACHETTE CELEBRATES ITS SECOND ANNIVERSARY AT SALA ROSSA!
It has already been two years since Machette Records was created by David Gagnon, time goes by so quickly! To celebrate this great accomplishment, Machette is doing an anniversary show at Sala Rossa on Friday, August 19th, where Claass (headliner), Rome Romeo and Solids will all be playing. Be sure not to miss it!
In just under two years, Machette Records has made a significant impression on Montreal's music scene. With eight releases under their belt, Machette has managed to build a solid reputation for being a label with both taste and ambition. Since 2009, Rome Romeo, Stefan & The Problematix, SLOBS, Cougarettes, Amanita Bloom, Solids and Claass have all chosen to release their 7" ep or their 12" ep via Machette Records.
With sold out shows (Claass' album launch at MAC, Rome Romeo at Casa Del Popolo, Amanita Bloom's album launch at Quai des Brumes and Scanner, Qc), performances at prestigious Quebec festivals, including Festival d'été de Québec, Pop Montreal and Osheaga, and international acclaim for artists such as SLOBS, Rome Romeo and CLAASS, Machette has demonstrated its diversity in a unique and exciting way. Nationally, Machette's artists have played showcases at Canadian Music Week and will participate at this year's edition of Halifax Pop Explosion.
Artists are now showcasing regulary in Toronto, with the addition of a monthly residency at the Bovine Sex Club. By partnering up with Select Distribution, which will oversee all future distribution, and with the start of this residency in Toronto, Machette's goals for 2011 are clear: to appeal to an international audience and to attract artists from all over the world!

CLAASS DIGITAL LAUNCH - SMILE AT THE VOID
Wednesday, May 25th, 2011-Uniting founding members of "We Are Wolves" and Montreal night owls Alexander Ortiz and Vincent Lévesque with renown DJ and producer Jordan Dare, CLAASS will be on the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal's stage on Friday, June 3rd at 7 pm, during the Friday Nocturnes, to reveal its brand new EP, Smile At the Void - to be digitally released on Dare To Care on May 27th and on vinyl on Machette Records in June.
While pushing the envelopes of experimentation and sonic exploration, CLAASS unveils a brand new universe to its listener. The sound of CLAASS has been described as a perfect blend of electronic and post-punk music, while keeping in its dance music sensibility. The songs on its new EP follow each other relentlessly as the energy never lets up. Purveyors of a sound that is sombre, multidimensional and melodic, CLAASS now unleashes its hypnotic beats and undulating intense sounds on the world.
CLAASS was formed in 2007, as an experimental side project aiming to explore new sounds while also tapping into their inspirations both past and present. The band's music evolved out of a zero compromise DIY ethic. Well recognized for its dynamic live performances, creativity, aesthetic sensibility and avant-garde approach, the trio's sound has been known to range from desolate soundscapes and well crafted melodies to nerve disrupting, electronic noise assaults. Constantly moving forward, CLAASS is on the go. After launching its EP in Montreal, the band will tour North America up until 2012.

New Machette band! As you can see, we've been busy helping our bands figure out their fall touring schedules and releases, and in the process picked up a new band! Montreal's Amanita Bloom have gracefully accepted our offer to put out their debut full length this October, and we're all really stoked.
If you scratch below the surface of Amanita Bloom you hear more than the generic music etiquette that could describe their sound. Braised with punk upbringings, psychedelia, folk songwriting aesthetics and a longing for the youthful sadness of the early American bluesmen, Amanita Bloom are a passionate marriage of melancholy and optimism, dipped in a dystopian love-story. We're really proud to announce two new releases for February 2010 over here at Machette Records.
We met with some 80's hardcore revivalists named SLOBS over at a dingy bar a few weeks ago and we came to an agreement that their demo cassette should become a nice 7". With a total of 6 songs and length of 8 minutes this 7" is sure to hit you before you even know what came.
As for our other release, again, after a night of drinking with the band, we are proud to say we will be putting out the critically acclaimed Milk Fangs EP by local electro-clash band: Cougarettes! The band was hard at work over the past few weeks recording a bonus track that will appear on this vinyl only! This limited release is set to be 100 white/400 black for the first pressing, so get 'em while they're hot!
